College Science Prerequisites

Some ISP classes require prerequisites prior to registration. These include:

  • Biology 2
  • Biochemistry
  • General Chemistry 2
  • Organic Chemistry 1 & 2
  • General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry (CHEM 151)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology 2
  • Physics 2

Students interested in attending these courses need to demonstrate that they have taken the required prerequisite class (or classes) before they will be permitted to attend.

The college level prerequisite class must be equivalent to the ISP class

Also, see our Requisite Flowchart.

Example: 4-unit class

  • The class must be four units
  • Contain a lab component
  • Cannot be older than 10 years
  • The grade obtained in the class must have been a “C” or better

How to confirm that you have the correct prerequisite.

Please refer to the Course Description for each class to determine the specific prerequisite requirement.

If you have taken the prerequisite class through an ISP course, you do not need to take any action; your ISP course is automatically accepted.

If you have taken the prerequisite class at another college, and you need to have it evaluated for approval, please email the unofficial transcript to:
